Context

Ethereum's unique strength lies in its vibrant culture of good governance, characterized by democratic, transparent, and inclusive decision-making processes. This culture fosters collective decision-making and the involvement of diverse perspectives, ensuring the network's adaptability and resilience.

We believe at the heart of this is programmable governance. The tools to customize incentives is what gives us the ability to scale coordination.

Boardroom

At Agora, we’re open-source and builders first, and that’s why we’re especially inspired by what Boardroom has accomplished. Boardroom was one of the earliest to step into the space of DAO tooling, and they’ve set a high bar in the world of governance that we’re eager to support and expand upon.

With over 300 protocols covered and 2M delegates tracked via their API, the Boardroom Newsfeed and API has become an important tool for many wallets and delegates. Most importantly, like us, they’re a team of passionate builders that believes in the power of onchain governance. Optimistic for the future, pushing communities to be more transparent and efficient.

"Agora’s experienced team makes them the ideal partner to carry Boardroom’s mission forward. Their product offering supports and scales projects from token launch to sustainable governance, perfectly aligning with our vision. I’m excited to see how this partnership will amplify the impact of onchain governance across the crypto ecosystem."

— Kevin Nielsen, Founder/CEO at Boardroom

What’s Next?

Win together as an ecosystem. We are committed to keeping the Boardroom product as-is; no service will be interrupted. Boardroom will join as a module in the Agora Ecosystem. We believe in diversity of clients and diversity of tools in the ecosystem. Just like how every protocol and community is different, Agora aims to solve those needs whether via Agora or an ecosystem partner.

Open-source is the way to go. For the same reasons we committed Agora to be open-sourced and actively contributing back to the OpenZeppelin common standard, we deeply believe in the power of the open-source community. Allowing partners to build on top of one another is what got us here, and what will get us to changing governance for the better.

Welcoming Kevin as an advisor. We’re thrilled to have Kevin join Agora as an advisor. His experience will be invaluable as we work together to push open-source governance to new heights.

We’re deeply grateful for the foundation Boardroom has created, and we’re excited to carry that torch forward. When we wrote down our mission, we believed that good governance can become a competitive advantage. We’re here to unlock it for community. And this is only the beginning.

And to all of the other founders out there—past or present—we encourage you to drop us a line, whether you’re looking to build something new at Agora or already built something you think would benefit our customers.

2025 is the year we make good governance the standard for all protocols in Ethereum.

It’s time to build!
